Southeast QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Flash Flooding

SUNSHINE COAST Council Area.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce very heavy rainfall and flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.

Locations which may be affected include Caloundra, the area southwest of Caloundra, Beerwah and Landsborough.

Rainfall of 45 to 50mm in an hour has been recorded at Landsborough and Palmwoods at 9pm.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
